How to Delete or Transfer an Organization

As an owner, you can hand your organization off to someone else or delete it entirely. Both options live on the organization’s Settings page, and both are owner-only actions.

Open your organization’s settings

Click Settings — you’ll land on the General settings by default, where the Transfer Ownership and Delete Organization options are.

Transfer ownership

Transferring ownership hands the organization — and all its music and members — to someone else, without deleting anything. It’s the right choice if you’re stepping down or leaving, but the group should carry on.

  • In the Transfer Ownership section, choose another user in the organization from the dropdown.
  • Click Transfer.
  • The other person must accept the transfer before it completes. Until they do, you remain the owner.

Delete the organization

In the Delete Organization section, click Delete. Here’s what happens:

  • Access is disabled for everyone except the owner right away.
  • The organization and all its data are scheduled to be permanently deleted in 30 days.
  • You can cancel any time within those 30 days to recover the organization. After 30 days, the deletion is permanent.

That 30-day window is your safety net — deleting an organization isn’t instant, so a change of heart is recoverable, unlike deleting your account.

Deleting your account?

If you’re doing this because you want to delete your account, remember you can either delete or transfer away each organization you own — either one clears the way to delete your account.
