Welcome! If your director has invited you to your band’s Virtual Song Book, this guide gets you set up — creating your account, accepting your invite, and finding your music before your first rehearsal.
1. Download the app
Download Virtual Song Book from the App Store (iPhone or iPad) or Google Play (Android). You can also use the web app at app.virtualsongbook.com.
2. Create your account
Your invitation email asks you to log in or create an account — there’s no one-tap accept button, so this is the first step. If you’re new, create a Virtual Song Book account using the same email address the invite was sent to. If you already have an account, just log in.
3. Accept your invitation
Once you’re logged in, open the sidebar (the panel with your name and your list of organizations). You’ll find your pending invite in one of two places:
- Tap the envelope icon, or
- Tap the notification bell — it shows a badge when you have an invite — and open the notification that says you’ve been invited to an organization.
That opens the invite, where you can accept it. Once accepted, the organization appears in your Organizations list in the sidebar.
4. Find your music
Select your organization, and you’ll see its Library and Sets. You’ll only see the parts assigned to your instrument, so everything in front of you is meant for you — no digging through other people’s music. Use the search bar to jump to a specific song.
If you think you’re missing music you should have, reach out to your director, who manages which parts each member can see.
5. Download before rehearsal
Your music doesn’t download automatically, and you can’t count on signal at every venue — so before a rehearsal or concert, download what you’ll need while you’re on WiFi. See How to Download Your Music for Offline Use for the steps.
6. Make it your own
Two tools worth knowing from day one:
- Annotate your music — add fingerings, reminders, and notes right on your parts.
- Adjust the tempo of a practice track to work through tricky passages at your own pace.
7. Joining Concert Mode
During rehearsals and performances, your director may run Concert Mode, where the music on your screen follows the conductor automatically. When that happens, you’ll join as a Musician — that guide walks you through it.
